meaningful milestones

“I had a wonderful experience working with Isabella for my professional portraits.

She offered excellent tips, suggestions and directions while remaining playful and relaxed. She brought a great combination of skillfulness and ease which helped me feel comfortable and confident in front of her camera. Isabella also worked to understand me and my business so that she could capture the feeling and message I want my photos to communicate to my clients.

She encouraged me with prompts throughout the shoot that helped me connect with my work and embody that in the photos. The experience itself was so fun and fulfilling that the fantastic gallery she delivered almost felt like icing on the cake!!

I knew from past shoots with other photographers that I could expect a few really perfect portraits, but Isabella exceeded my hopes in offering a tremendous number of photos I not only love and that really feel like ‘me’ but that can also represent the diversity of my professional services.

I can't recommend Isabella more highly.” - Hannah

Earth, music and energy

“Isabella’s style of photography is breathtakingly honest. She has a talent for capturing emotions in a way that made me feel authentically seen, and empowered. The photo shoot, in a way, was very healing for me. As a traditional herbalist and energy worker through my practice, I know from personal experience the very powerful mind/body/spirit connection. Isabella has a way of working with spirit, bringing out the essence of a person through her photography.” - Carolyn

Music and trains

“I adore Isabella! What an amazing photographer and exceptional human being. Before I met Isabella I was extremely uncomfortable getting my picture taken. I went from being self conscious, awkward and shy in front of the camera to feeling confident and beautiful during our photo sessions. How did that happen?! I'll tell you how...Isabella! She made me feel at home, showed me how to position my body for the camera, and made me laugh and then laugh some more. To say she worked miracles with me would be an understatement. And guess what? I have incredible photos to prove it!” - Annie P.

Golden Hour Magic

“We had a great experience working with Isabella for our family photos! She suggested a beautiful location, a last minute change when the weather was less than ideal, and she was always responsive. She made our entire family feel relaxed and enjoy the process, and she even got some smiles out of our stranger-averse pandemic baby. The resulting photos were beautiful, and will definitely be keepsakes.” - Carrie

I wanted something which did more than just provide a 'head shot'

I needed a photo that could be used on a professional website, and I knew that I wanted something which did more than just provide a 'head shot.' I wanted it to be professional but stylish - something that looked like me and what I felt inside. Isabella managed to capture that and to create images that were varied but all felt 'right'.

Have fun choosing your look

Whether you’re a fashionista or not, our goal is for you to feel at ease for your session. That being said, there are some best practices when it comes to choosing what to wear. On the one hand, your session isn’t about your outfit - it’s about YOU. On the other hand, what you’re wearing can either enhance or detract from us really seeing YOU. This post offers ideas for striking a balance that will lead to photos you’ll love. The most important thing is that you feel like yourself, so keep in mind that these are guidelines, not mandates.

Jena

Because of the pandemic I have only been offering sessions outdoors. We do live in a spectacular part of the world and we are incredibly lucky to have so so much space and beauty. I love the outdoors but it could be challenging when it comes to environmental or professional portraits. Working only outside pushed me even more to use my creativity in collaborating with my subjects. And why not bringing your rockstar office pink chair to a corn field at sunset for your session? 2020 has been quite the year. I like to know from the people I photograph a little bit about themselves, what they do and how the craziness of these last few months has affected them. Here is Jena’s story.

Reassured by the beauty of the ordinary

What a wonderful collaboration! I had the pleasure to photograph Alfie and his beautiful sculptures. Part of this portrait project is to learn more about my subjects, their creative process and how the pandemic has effected them. “The pieces are meant to create a sense of serenity and contemplation by juxtaposing beginning and end; whole and part; positive and negative space. The work is also an invitation to see beauty and the divine in the everyday”. Alfie

Family Photos, Chicken Shit and Smiles

I promise I won’t ask your kids to yell out “chicken shit!” or “cheese” because I have other ways of creating the relaxed, spontaneous atmosphere that results in photographs that capture your children's personalities, not their performances. My approach to family photography is simple, warm and down-to-earth. If you work with me, you will end up with a collection of images that communicate personalities and show your connection.

Authentic High School Senior Portrait

Graduating from high school is such a special moment in the lives of our children and our families. A senior portrait is not the time to have one more awkwardly posed school picture with a fake smile and background. It's a chance to share hints of the adults our kids are turning into, and celebrate the childhood that they haven’t yet quite left behind.

KHAMA’S Personal Branding Session

Khama is an Emergency Department Medical Director and Emergency Physician. She wrote an essay that was recently published by the Washington Post and needed a professional headshot. Because the photo was going to be used with an opinion piece, Khama wanted images of herself that were professional but also had a personal feel. We did a one-hour Personal Branding Photo Session which resulted in more than 25 images of Khama in a variety of outfits and backgrounds for her to use with her articles and any other platforms where she wants to be recognized.

SAY THEIR NAMES: A MURAL IN SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS

In addition to the protests that occurred across the world in the wake of the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police, local artists channeled their grief and rage into a powerful new mural in Springfield, Massachusetts. As a photographer, I was honored to volunteer my time and services to document this project.
